Shri Vadnagar Tirth

History

According to history Shri Vadnagar Tirth dates back to the ancient times. Earlier the town of Vadnagar was known by the names Anandpur or Vrudhhnagar. As per reference the town was earlier very rich and prosperous. Many old wells and forts have been found here. For the first time in 523 of Vikram Samvat Era Pavitra Agam Kalpa Sutra was read before sravakas here. King Kumarpala built a fort around Vadnagar. The idol of Lord Rishabh Dev is believed to possess miraculous powers. Devotees from far off places visit the temple to offer their prayers. It is believed that if prayed with all devotion the Lord fulfils the wishes of the pilgrims.

The temple of Shri Vadnagar Tirth houses the idol of Lord Rishabh Dev. The Swetambara temple has been magnificently decorated with intricate artistic designs. The creative temple work boast about the skills of the craftsmen. The walls of the temple have been beautifully designed with ancient paintings. The idol of the Lord is white in colour and is seated in a padmasana posture. The idol has been beautifully carved from a single stone and looks very appealing. The smiling face of the Lord looks very calm and serene. Apart from this there are four other temples in Vadnagar that houses many Jain idols.

The Temple of Shri Vadnagar Tirth organises many annual gatherings and functions. There are provisions for dharamshalas or rest houses for the pilgrims.
